ESP32 devices: voice assistant, motion gloves, USB printer emulator

A series of ESP32-S3 devices from schematic idea to working firmware: offline wake word, wireless sensors, and USB protocol emulation.

Problem

Each device needed custom low-level work that off-the-shelf modules do not provide: on-device speech, low-latency wireless input, emulating a proprietary medical video printer.

What was done

  • Jarvis — voice speaker on ESP32-S3: ESP-SR / WakeNet wake word, INMP441 microphone, MAX98357 amplifier, voice gateway to the AI platform.
  • airGamepad — two ESP32-S3 gloves with LSM6DSV IMUs over ESP-NOW, gyro aiming; force-myography band chosen after a literature review (FMG vs EMG).
  • USB printer emulator for Sony UP-D898MD medical video printer: TinyUSB device, SPJL/SPDL protocol parsing.
  • Also: 110 mm / 300 dpi thermal printhead driver, wireless G920 wheel → Xbox bridge, CVBS video capture (TVP5150).

Result

Working prototypes with documented BOMs — a base I reuse to deliver client hardware faster.
